Sometimes, “no occasion” is also an occasion.

Getting ready the other day, I spotted that piece of jewellery - the delicate necklace I bought in London months ago.

Wrapped lovingly.

Sitting smugly in its box.

Waiting for an “occasion big enough.”

A wedding?
A gala?
A Vogue photo shoot I’m not invited to?

Instead, I wore it to… lunch.

A regular, slightly-sweaty-in-Dubai, nothing-fancy lunch.

And it felt amazing. Not because the lunch was special, but because that little locket made it feel like it could be.

Which got me thinking about our strange little habit of saving things -
the “nice” jewellery,
the expensive shoes,
the good perfume,
the idea we think isn’t ready,
the message you want to send but keep delaying.

We save them for “later.” But later is a slippery thing. It moves every time you get close.

Here’s something so small but beautiful I keep rediscovering:

The moment doesn’t become special and then we show up. It becomes special because we showed up.

Wearing the jewellery didn’t need a milestone. Using the “special” things in your life shouldn’t either. And honestly? Most of the best things I’ve ever done - personally, professionally, creatively - happened when I stopped waiting for the perfect timing and just… did the thing.

So here’s your Monday memo from the girl who finally opened the shiny little box:

Stop saving things for when life looks perfect.
Use the nice things now.
Make this the moment.
